Some People Just Want To See You Fail

Read this title once more and let it sink in. I learned this lesson the hard way so here is what I have to share, in hopes of helping at least one person.
We, as humans, have various qualities. Some positive, some negative. Normally, we try to grow the positive qualities and annihilate the negative ones. That is, of course, assuming the person being discussed is normal. Sometimes; however, the person you are dealing with is not. It is as though some evil force controls all their thoughts and actions, and it simply feels like they want to see your downfall - at any price.
The sad truth is no one wants to see anyone better than them. No one will genuinely care for you and want you to do your best, more than you can care for yourself, at least. Though, that is human nature. But there is a difference between a person who feels like this and tries to push that negative jealous emotion aside and a person who acts on it. A person who sabotages you but acts like a friend. Beware of these people. Be careful with who you share your happiness and success. And most importantly, never place your happiness in someone else's hands.
If you feel like the person in front of you does not have pure intentions, FOLLOW YOUR GUT. There is a reason you feel this way. Time will tell, just take caution. It is always better to be extra careful to avoid an issue than to ignore your feelings and end up with the worst possible scenario. And remember, if a person is not worth your time, they're also not worth your anger.
YOU are the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. Work on yourself, and love yourself. Be the friend you've always wanted to have. Stop setting expectations on people you cannot control, and instead work on bettering yourself. People are unpredictable. Once the expectations stop, the disappointments do as well.
Sadly, in this life, you will encounter a lot of people who do not have the same intentions as you. But that does not mean you should change your heart. Protect this kind, child-like innocent heart of yours. Guard it so it is not crushed by these monsters. The world needs people like you. You are rare, but you will meet those similar to you and your moments with them will feel blissful and special. Save your heart to share with those who deserve it.
Have you ever encountered someone with impure intentions? What is your story?
